Job Summary

Become a team member for the largest Indigenous-led infrastructure project in Canada which will connect 17 remote First Nation communities in Northern Ontario with clean reliable and accessible grid power! First Nation leadership owners of Wataynikaneyap established the Guiding Principles endorsed by its partners that set out expectations for the Companys development including respect for the land and First Nation way of life and is reflected in the companys Guiding Principles.

Wataynikaneyap Power PM Inc. a wholly owned subsidiary of FortisOntario Inc. acts as the Project Manager of Wataynikaneyap Power LP (Wataynikaneyap Power). Wataynikaneyap Power is a licensed transmission entity majority-owned by a partnership of 24 First Nation communities in partnership with Fortis Inc. and other private investors. The partnership is an unprecedented undertaking and has constructed 1800 kilometres of 230 kV 115 kV and 44 kV transmission lines and 22 substations in northwestern Ontario. Administrative Assistant & HR Support

Full-Time Permanent Position

The key responsibility of the Administrative Assistant & HR Support role is to provide comprehensive support for the administrative needs of all departments including Human Resources within the Wataynikaneyap Power Office. This role will assist with office administrative tasks human resources functions coordination of meetings/discussions directing communications and offering cross-department support. Responsibilities may include scheduling interviews supporting employee onboarding contributing to presentation development and assisting with employee engagement initiatives. The Administrative Assistant & HR Support will ensure all work assigned is performed accurately and efficiently while demonstrating a personal commitment to the safety of co-workers the public oneself and the environment.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post-secondary education in Business Administration or Human Resources preferred
  • 1-3 years experience working in an Administration role with experience providing HR support.
  • Experience working with or for First Nations will be considered an asset.
  • Fluency or proficiency in a First Nations language is a strong asset.
  • Experience working in a utility environment would also be considered an asset
  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism.
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills (both verbal and written) and can easily liaise and interact with all types of personalities while maintaining professionalism.
  • Ability to function in a continuously demanding environment with changing/conflicting priorities and with frequent interruptions.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills and the ability to take initiative where required.
  • Advanced computer skills with demonstrated knowledge in MS Office Suite; experience in Workforce Now/ADP would be considered an asset.
  • Perform high volume of tasks while having the ability to prioritize as needed.
  • Demonstrated high level of attention to accuracy and proven attention to detail.
  • Must have a valid Ontario G drivers license and maintain a clean drivers abstract.
  • Travel to other FortisOntario locations and First Nation communities may be required.
