Job Description
Hybrid This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the Warren Technical Center three times per week at minimum.This job is not eligible for relocation benefits. Any relocation costs would be the responsibility of the selected candidate
The Role - As a Buyer you will be responsible for purchase of all or a specific portion of productive and/or non-productive materials supplies machinery tooling and/or services. Responsible for actively participating in the development of commodity strategy sourcing/negotiations global/regional material budget execution and collaborate with suppliers or internal partners. The work is of a sophisticated nature involving a considerable amount of initiative analytical work and judgment.
Responsibilities:
You will be responsible for purchase of all or a specific portion of productive and/or non-productive materials supplies machinery tooling and/or services.
Responsible for actively participating in development of commodity strategy sourcing/negotiations global/regional material budget execution and interface with suppliers or internal stakeholders.
Work is of a complex nature involving a considerable amount of initiative analytical work and a high level of independent judgment.
Partner with Program Managers to represent purchasing and communicate program requirements/vehicle line overview.
Nurture relationship with strategic suppliers by acting as a focal point for commercial issue resolution
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
2 years relevant post-graduate work experience in purchasing supply chain program/product management logistics or product development
Experience with commodities required
High level of capability to work independently
Highly proficient oral and written communication skills
High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and complex
Interpersonal skills to work effectively with others and ability to collaborate cross-functionally
Negotiation skills
Ability to prioritize assignments/projects and multi-task within restricted time
Capable of interpreting contracts
Demonstrated global business skills
Ability to travel 510% travel
What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
Cost analysis or manufacturing experience
Automotive industry experience
Knowledge of materials management
Capable of interpreting market data
Able to read blueprints and to understand basic engineering documents
Solid knowledge of contract law and its applications regarding purchasing processes
EDUCATION:
Minimum:
Bachelors degree in Business Supply Chain Management Finance related field or equivalent work experience
Preferred:
Masters degree in Business Supply Chain Management or related advanced degree a plus
