Two years of post high school education or higher or be able to pass a standardized test approved by the state of South Dakota for designated Education Assistant positions.. | EXPERIENCE DESIRED: | At least one year of work experience in a position requiring interpersonal interaction skills and knowledge of strategies to support students with social emotional and behavior needs. |
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: | Requiresconstant hand-eye and mind-eye coordination hearing frequent bending over crouching reaching removing speaking standing stooping talking threading turning and walking. Frequent carrying grasping holding lifting opening pulling unfolding and unlocking are also required. Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally. |
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: | Experience with behavior management. |
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & DUTIES
- Escorts students to transportation and other areas of the building.
- As needed provides personal care to students with special daily living needs (e.g. toileting feeding physical management).
- Provides review and practice of skills taught by a teacher with students 1:1 and in small groups in special education classroom and/or regular classroom.
- Works with students in schools and on community outings.
- Prepares instructional materials as directed/selected by teacher.
- Reinforces instructional/behavioral objectives.
- Provides clerical assistance to maintaining student records (charting assignments attendance data for progress notes).
- Assists with the supervision of students during recess lunchroom and on the playground.
- Maintain the confidentiality of students and their families.
- Reinforces instructional and behavioral objectives for children.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Lunch Education Support Professional Duites
- Monitors and responds to student behavior at meal times.
- Reports incidents requiring discipline.
- Assists with playground equipment.
- Serves lunches helps with clean up.
- Administers first aid.
- May be requested by administration to transport students using personal vehicle.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
PAY INFORMATION
Starting at $18.12 per hour $1000 Sign-On Bonus!
Pay Day: Last working day of each month.
HOURS & FTE
Monday through Friday7:45 am to2:30 pm with a 30 minute unpaid lunch
7:45 am to 10:30 am - Special Education Support Professional
10:30am to 12:15pm - Lunch Education Support Professional
12:15pm to 2:30 pm - Special Education Support Professional
Specific schedule breakdown is subject to change.
