The role

As a Senior Information Access Officer youll be the go-to person for navigating complex and sensitive information access matters across the Department and its network agencies. Youll primarily manage the coordination of Parliamentary orders for papers under Standing Order 52 and assist with managing formal access applications under the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009.

The role calls for someone who can juggle competing deadlines with surges in activity during parliamentary sitting periods stay across evolving legislation and build strong relationships with a wide range of this fast-paced detail-oriented role you will need strong administrative and coordination skills. Youll navigate complex workflows manage sensitive information and liaise across the Department ministerial offices and other agencies.

What you will bring to the role

  • Expertise in navigating complex issues like Standing Order 52 and the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 ensuring decisions are legally sound and transparent.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to build trust and collaborate across departments agencies and external bodies to deliver timely and accurate information access outcomes.
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities delivering high-quality advice and decisions under pressure while maintaining attention to detail and compliance.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement contributing to the development of internal processes and training programs that enhance organisational capability and compliance.
  • Confidence in representing the Department externally including in reviews and tribunals with a professional and ethical approach to sensitive and high-stakes matters.

Key knowledge and experience

  • Knowledge and expertise in the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 and/or Standing Order 52
  • Knowledge and experience in supporting Ministerial or parliamentary services can be helpful.
