Position Summary:
The Logistics Support Specialist plays a critical role in supporting operational readiness and efficiency by managing both strategic and hands-on logistics functions. This position requires a unique blend of procurement and project management expertise alongside physical inventory handling and distribution skills.
The Logistics Support Specialist performs professional and technical work related to the procurement and inventory management of goods services and equipment in accordance with district policies and procedures. Responsibilities include purchasing stocking maintaining accurate inventory and coordinating the distribution and delivery of equipment and supplies to support the districts operations.

The successful candidate will be detail-oriented proactive and capable of managing multiple priorities. They should be comfortable working in both office and warehouse environments and possess strong communication and organizational skills.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
The following duties are an overview of the primary duties and responsibilities of the Logistics Support Specialist and should not be considered an all-inclusive list.
- Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of and adherence to the districts rules policies and procedures specifically those related to finance and consistently enforce them in accordance with the Member Handbook Payroll Manual and Standard Operating Guidelines.
- Procure materials equipment and services in a cost-effective timely professional and ethical manner.
- Solicit bids analyze quotations and select or recommend suppliers based on best value.
- Ensure purchases are made at the most favorable price consistent with quality specifications and quantity requirements.
- Locate and evaluate vendors using sources such as catalogs online research and staff recommendations; secure and maintain vendor relationships.
- Develop and maintain an inventory system for consumable supplies and fixed assets.
- Maintain central supply areas in a clean safe and organized manner ensuring proper storage conditions rotation of inventory and compliance with District policies GAAP and GASB standards applicable to Colorado local governments.
- Conduct an annual physical inventory of fixed assets.
- Assist in developing operating procedures standards and guidelines for purchasing inventory control and fixed asset management.
- Educate employees and vendors on procurement and inventory policies and procedures.
- Coordinate redistribution sale or disposal of surplus supplies inventory and assets.
- Deliver and pick up supplies equipment uniforms or other inventory to and from district facilities driving a district provided vehicle.
- Verify and confirm required authorizations for receipts and purchase orders.
- Accurately process invoices receipts and packing slips for billing and forward originals to Finance for payment.
- Maintain accounting records vendor files and payment schedules in compliance with District policies GAAP and GASB standards.
- Respond promptly to staff and vendor inquiries regarding orders shipments payments and inventory availability.
- Foster positive and effective working relationships with employees volunteers residents governmental partners and community members.
- Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Work independently and collaboratively in a progressive team-oriented environment.
- Provide excellent service to internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrate initiative self-motivation and a positive attitude.
- Promote a professional image of the district at all times.
- Identify and recommend process improvements to increase efficiency.
- Prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications and Certification Requirements:
- Associates degree or higher in Business Accounting Purchasing Contracts Database Management or a related field.
- Related work experience in logistics supply management and/or purchasing is preferred.
- A combination of education and directly related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Must possess and maintain a valid State of Colorado drivers license and an acceptable driving record.
- Proficiency with logistics software or comparable enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in data management accounting budgeting project management or a combination of similarly complex skills that demonstrate the ability to successfully perform in this role.
Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Proficiency in operating a wide range of office automation equipment and software including spreadsheet applications database management record storage/retrieval systems and word processing.
- Ability to effectively use personal computers and software including but not limited to the districts records management system and Microsoft Office programs.
- Capacity to learn and apply complex procedures; compile and prepare financial reports; interpret laws and regulations governing fiscal recordkeeping; and review financial documents and reports for accuracy.
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions routine correspondence and memos and to write clear and accurate reports and correspondence.
- Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to present information effectively in one-on-one and small group settings with staff vendors and community members.
- Ability to interpret and apply a variety of instructions furnished in written oral diagram or schedule form.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency in reading writing speaking and understanding English at a level sufficient to perform the essential duties of the position.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve logistical challenges efficiently.
- Effective time management skills including the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple assignments.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
This position requires work in both an office and a warehouse environment.
- This position will involve sedentary administrative work in an office environment as well as moderate physical activity in a warehouse environment.
- This position will require driving to meet with district employees and vendors and to deliver or pick up items to and from district facilities.
- This position requires the ability to sit for extended periods and frequent pushing pulling pinching gripping reaching and lifting overhead reaching away from body and repetitive motions. Standing walking kneeling stooping bending lifting and squatting also will be required as necessary to perform the duties of the position.
- Position requires ability to frequently lift/move objects of up to 25 pounds in weight occasionally lift/move objects of up to 50 pounds in weight and rarely lift greater weights as part of a team.
- Use of sensory activities such as talking seeing and hearing will be required frequently.
- Position requires close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
- Must be able to work evenings weekends and holidays on occasion as needed.
- This position will involve periods of high physical mental and/or emotional stress.
