Spun out of Harvard and MIT March Therapeutics (MarchTx) is a stealth venture-backed startup developing a novel class of DNA writers for a few dozen monogenic mitochondrial diseases that are all incurable today. Leveraging its proprietary suite of gene therapy tools MarchTx is currently pursuing multiple preclinical programs in active collaborations with leading hospitals and universities worldwide.
Position Summary
We are looking to work with highly motivated and ambitious Research Associate(s) with extensive molecular and cellular biology experience to help expand our R&D efforts. You will be responsible for performing various in vitro and cell-based assays as well as standard molecular biology techniques and lab operations/maintenanceworking closely with senior scientists with deep genome engineering and cell/mitochondrial physiology background. We are a fast-growing startup aiming to be the first to introduce mitochondrial gene therapy to the patients; an ideal candidate should be comfortable with working in a fast-paced yet highly-collaborative environment with a strong mission-alignment.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducting standard molecular biology assays and techniques including PCR gel electrophoresis DNA assembly cloning etc.
- Performing various assays to evaluate the performance of novel DNA writers in vitro and in vivo
- Design execution and troubleshooting of experiments as well as data analysis
- Maintaining lab notebooks and reporting data and results analysis to the scientific team
Requirements
- B.S. in Biological Sciences Biochemistry Biological Engineering Cell & Molecular Biology or a related field.
- Strong experimental skills including molecular cloning and nucleic acid manipulation. Extensive experience with DNA assembly techniques is preferred.
- Familiarity with molecular/synthetic biology software/tools for data entry and analysis such as geneious or benchling
- Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
- Motivated curious and comfortable working with highly technical projects and personnel in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills capable of conveying technical information in a clear and thorough manner.
- Prior experience with gene editing tools such as CRISPR is a plus (but not required)
