EnergyTradingConsulting - Consultant
The oil and gas industry is facing unprecedented challenges through volatileenergyprices driven by changes to the geopolitical landscape supply and demand imbalances andevolving consumption patterns due to global economic development and the energytransition. This creates an opportunity for the sector to pivot to a long-term strategy that helps address these will be a critical enabler of an efficientenergytransition that includes optimization of existing supply modernizing underlying technology to support the transition and enable the rapid creation of renewable product markets.
The opportunity
Recognizing the need of our clients we are building anenergy tradingteam to help our clients optimize current supply embrace emergent technology such as AI launch new renewable product and further navigate the transition. You will be a leader leveraging your talents and experience in mature and robustenergytradingmarkets to help define the future of energy through shaping our strategy developing new market offerings and delivering transformational value for our clients that enable the people process and technology capabilities for this challenging market model transition. This is a high-profile position that will work withenergyleaders and client serving teams across the different EY practices.
Your key responsibilities
As Energy companies explore opportunities to set up and optimize their energy trading function your role will be to enable this journey undertaking some or all the following responsibilities:
- Define and document trading front middle and back-office process design
- Creation of new energy trading organizational and operating models
- Assisting in the creation of energy trading benchmarking surveys and market scans for new and emerging technology / value creation opportunities
- Helping our clients select the right solutions though Vendor Assessments & Scoring and Fit/Gap Analysis
- Integration and alignment of cross product and cross region commodity trading processes and technologies
- Functional design and requirements gathering across front office risk accounting settlements logistics and scheduling
- Ability to work across various stakeholder groups including strategy business data and technical teams
- Development of energy trading functional and technical roadmaps
- Delivering transformation programs
- Creation of new capabilities in emerging technologies such as AI IoT Data and Anayltics
- Assisting in the development of commercial strategies for new energies
Business Development
The purpose of this role is to help position EY for growth within the Oil and Gas sector in a rapidly changing market. As a consultant in our energy trading practice you will be a key team member contributing to the growth of our energytradingteam and to the development of your peers and yourself. You will be expected to support creation our industry thought leadership to implement our Go to Market strategy to develop sales collateral andsolutionmaterial to position EY in the will learn about the various competencies and capabilities within EY. You will be a key player in helping us execute on complex engagements for our clients assisting them in transforming their businesses as they prepare for the future of the energy industry.
To qualify for the role you must have:
- A bachelors degree in economics mathematics finance or a related field and a minimum of 3 years of work experience
- Preferably some experience working within the oil and gastradingsector
- Technical/Functional ETRM system implementation experience
- Experience inenergycommodities and understanding of the commercial aspects of commoditytrading marketing or procurement
- An understanding of the nuances of executing physical or financial commodity transaction lifecycle
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to liaise with different business capabilities and vendor teams with a singular focus on ensuring client excellence
- Strategic thinking and solutioning skills to craft a strong value proposition
- Strong understanding of the current solutions in the market and ability to craft a specific point of view for our clients
- Experience in project delivery SDLC or DevOps
- A collaborative and teamingmindset
- A curious mindset and desire to learn and grow
- Highly seasoned project management skills and ability to complete multiple tasks in afast-paced environment
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills on a global basis (includingPresentations) as well as listening and interpretation skills
- Willingness to go out of your comfort zone to break new ground in areas of the industry which you are not most familiar
- Willingness to travel up to 60%
Ideally you will also have
- Prior experience in oil an gas
- Experiences across multiple technology platforms
- Functional design and requirements gathering across front office risk accounting settlements and logistics & scheduling
- Detailed technical and solution design for ETRM (ION products SAP Commodity Management etc.)
- Solution Architecture Data architecture and Infrastructure Performance and Cost Optimization
- Experience with AWS Azure and Google Cloud Platform
- Experience with SAP Cloud Platform Integration
- Experience with JAVA OpenComponents OpenJVS OpenAVS and SAP ABAP development
- SQL Python or similar languages

- We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where youll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $102500 to $187900. The base salary range for New York City Metro Area Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $122900 to $213400. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education experience knowledge skills and addition our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage pension and 401(k) plans and a wide range of paid time off options.
- Join us in our team-led and leader-enabled hybrid model. Our expectation is for most people in external client serving roles to work together in person 40-60% of the time over the course of an engagement project or year.
