Purpose of the role:
The Operations Manager is responsible for supporting the effective delivery of security operations across Bristol Waste. Acting as deputy to the Security Contract Manager the role ensures the efficient management of resources the professional mobilisation of new contracts and the development of high-performing security teams.
The post holder will play a key role in maintaining compliance with industry standards building strong client relationships and driving continuous improvement to enhance service delivery retention and growth opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Oversight
- Oversee day-to-day security operations ensuring services are delivered efficiently and in line with contractual requirements.
- Monitor operational performance implementing improvements to maximise efficiency and control costs.
- Deputise for the Security Contract Manager when required ensuring seamless leadership across the security function.
- Conduct site visits audits and inspections to ensure compliance with SIA ACS NSI Gold and company standards.
New Business Mobilisation
- Lead the professional mobilisation of new security contracts including workforce planning cost analysis training and operational structuring.
- Engage directly with clients during mobilisation ensuring expectations are aligned and service delivery standards are clear.
- Establish performance review processes and improvement strategies to ensure long-term contract success.
Team Leadership & Development
- Line-manage Security Team Leaders providing coaching guidance and support.
- Promote a positive culture of accountability teamwork and professionalism across all teams.
- Support recruitment onboarding and retention initiatives to build and maintain strong teams.
- Ensure team training and development requirements are met with a focus on compliance and performance.
Client Relationship Management
- Maintain positive and proactive relationships with clients acting as a key point of contact for operational queries.
- Attend client meetings provide accurate reports and ensure action plans are implemented.
- Resolve escalated client concerns in a professional and timely manner.
Strategic Contribution
- Contribute to the development of the wider security strategy providing operational insight to the Contract Manager.
- Identify areas for innovation including use of technology and alternative delivery models.
- Support commercial growth by identifying opportunities to expand security services.
Performance & Compliance
- Monitor team and contract performance against KPIs and SLAs taking corrective action where required.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation industry standards and company policies.
- Support internal and external audit processes to maintain NSI Gold and ACS accreditation.
General Accountabilities
- Maintain a safe working environment and ensure safe working practices are followed by staff.
- Work in compliance with Bristol Waste policies codes of conduct and Integrated Management System (IMS).
- Contribute to continual improvement of the IMS and service delivery.
Essential Requirements for the Role:
- Proven experience in a senior security management role.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Demonstrable experience in contract mobilisation and client engagement.
- Commercial awareness and ability to contribute to business growth.
- Knowledge of SIA ACS NSI Gold and health & safety standards.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Valid SIA Licence (Door Supervisor).
