Secondment Opportunity: Kindergarten Teacher(s)

Opportunity

Are you an experienced Kindergarten teacher or Early Childhood Educator currently teaching Kindergarten or recently retired Do you have experience with developing curriculum and professional development resources in these areas Are you looking for an opportunity to enhance your skills and support teachers across the province with innovative and interdisciplinary approaches to teaching STEM topics in the Kindergarten classroom

The Ontario Science Centre with funding support from the Ministry of Education is seeking a qualified teacher to develop new classroom resources and teacher professional development sessions to support the revised Kindergarten Curriculum

Position:

Kindergarten Teacher: An individual to work full-time from October 2025 to June 2026; as the Ontario Science Centre is an agency of the provincial government the work location for this position will be onsite in our downtown Toronto office and/or at locations where Ontario Science Centre programs are being delivered in the Greater Toronto Area.

Responsibilities: Working with a team of Educators our Early Childhood Specialist and staff across the organization you will develop teacher PD and classroom ready resources to support the revised Kindergarten curriculum specifically focusing on STEM learning concepts to be delivered by the end of the 25-26 school year; work will involve

  • Research writing prototyping and evaluating classroom resources (including video-based content)
  • Preparing and delivering virtual teacher PD to increase competencies in STEM education for Kindergarten teachers across the province
Hours of work: In accordance with Ontario Science Centre guidelines generally Monday to Friday between 8:30-4:30 with occasional evening or weekend work as assigned especially when scheduling and delivering Teacher Professional Development sessions.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Full-time availability from October 2025 to June 2026 (please note candidates teaching currently can work collaboratively with Ontario Science Centre and their school board to identify an appropriate start date)
  • Ability to attend work at our downtown Toronto headquarters (777 Bay Street) a minimum of 3 days a week to begin increasing to 5 days a week by January 5 2026 in line with the Ontario Public Services Return to Office mandate.
  • Post-secondary degree(s) in Education Early Childhood Studies or other similar areas of concentration from an accredited university
  • Primary/Junior teaching qualifications
  • Member in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers and/or a member in good standing
with the College of Early Childhood Educators
  • Experience teaching Kindergarten and knowledge of the revised Kindergarten curriculum
  • Demonstrated creativity innovation engineering design thinking and STEM-inquiry skills in developing classroom resources
  • Ability to work both independently and in collaboration with others
  • Familiarity with various IT operating systems apps and online learning platforms
  • Advanced oral and written French an asset
Compensation: Compensation will be aligned with your current salary. If you are not currently working in a full-time role and/or within a school board compensation will align with your experience.
