General Description
Under the supervision of the Director and Lead Teacher the Early Learning Center Assistant will supervise the activities of students and works as a member of the teaching team to promote active learning while providing a caring and safe environment for the students. The ideal candidate must be able to communicate listen and work well in a team environment while assisting in implementing a quality educational program and developing positive relationships with the students parents and all team members. The Early Learning Assistant will aid in maintaining a clean safe and orderly physical environment while also embracing and meeting the needs of diversity of students and their families.
Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities
- Maintain confidentiality at all times in regards to children parents staff students and volunteers following guidelines established by MCAS policies and articulated by the centers director and MCAS policies
- Comply with standard rules regulations and procedures assigned by the district
- Use professionalism when collaborating or working with students staff and parents
- Use district-approved curriculum resources for teaching students
- Support the student in the classroom individually or in small groups following the teachers guidelines
- Support the educator/teachers overall goals and objectives for each individual student
- Aid in the development and maintenance of a positive work environment
- Communicate concerns to the Lead Teacher or Director in a timely and professional manner
- Be on time and maintain good attendance
- Attend in-services and training as required
- Request teacher support when necessary or when more explanation is needed
- Communicate important information to the program director concerning students
- Help ensure a smooth daily transition from home to Center
- Maintain a healthy classroom environment including maintaining appropriate hygiene and cleanliness standards and safety and security of students
- Serve as the substitute lead teacher as needed
- Supervise children at all times: seeing and hearing children both indoors & outdoors
- Uphold all responsibilities for mandated reporting as legally required by the state of Indiana.
Education and Experience
- 21 years of age
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Meet all State Requirements
- Two year or four year degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field
- Previous experience working with children in a group setting
- Physically able to lift children or items up to or in excess of 50 pounds
- Ability to meet the physical demands of supervising and supporting children
- Successful completion of First Aid Training Universal Precautions ILEAD one hour of Jason Foundation Suicide Prevention Training and annual CPR
- All staff are required to have 12 hours of training annually
- Annually receive a negative intradermal TB test
- Must pass a criminal background check and fingerprint screening
- Must pass drug test upon hire and subsequent random drug-testing
Salary and Benefits
Payment Type: $15.00 per hour
Benefits: No benefits grant-funded
