The Chief Financial Officer is responsible for providing leadership and management of the Colleges financial accounting physical plant. and other business-related activities including cash management budget management risk management regulatory compliance contract and grant administration investment management debt management financial analysis and other duties as assigned by the President. The VP & Chief Financial Officer reports to the President of the College and as a member of the Presidents Cabinet participates in setting institutional strategic direction and policy; and serves in an advisory and support capacity to the President Provost Vice Presidents and Deans on financial administrative and budgetary matters.
In support of the Thomas College Mission and Vision the VP & CFO assists with the development and execution of the strategic plan and leads the Colleges long term enrollment driven financial modeling goal setting and execution processes.
Serve as an advisor to the President Provost Vice Presidents and department managers with financial and business-related matters and legal and financial/security risk exposures including the review of all contracts in a manner that promotes financial prudence and responsibility.
Manage and prepare an annual budget for Board approval. Develop and routinely update a multi-year financial forecast in alignment with the Colleges long-range strategic plan.
Develop models analyze trends and ratios and monitor and manage variances pertaining to the College budget and business proposals. Interpret financial data and reports and assess operational results for senior management and the Board.
Oversee the Physical Plant department.
The VP of Finance & Chief Financial Officer position requires substantive and progressively responsible management experience in finance accounting and related areas of law government policy and regulation in an institution of higher education. Excellent leadership managerial organizational planning relevant software applications and analytical skills. The ability to communicate clearly and effectively; ability to interact and collaborate successfully with faculty students and staff; and the ability to develop plan and implement short and long-range goals.
CPA MBA and/or equivalent combination of education and 10 years of progressively responsible experience including 7 years of financial management experience preferably in a similar organization. Experience with fund accounting and capital projects preferred.
