JOB TITLE: INSTRUCTIONAL SPECIALIST

JOB SUMMARY:The Instructional Specialist will facilitate the integration of the Oklahoma Academic Standards as well as provide non-evaluative support and feedback to improve Tier I and Tier II instruction. The Instructional Specialist is responsible for working strategically to provide ongoing professional development in effective instructional and intervention strategies to improve student achievement.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Collaborate with site-based principals and the curriculum team in the planning and implementation of district curriculum for the purpose of creating a learning environment that supports academic achievement for all students.
  • Working with new and veteran teachers in a coaching capacity when it comes to classroom management effective instruction and implementation of district-approved curriculum.
  • Work with PLC teams to support the academic needs of students in the area of Tier I and II intervention.
  • Support the implementation of the RTI process through data analysis and instructional use of student formative and benchmark data.
  • Assists teachers in designing and implementing lesson plans and assessments that reflect the use of best practices and are correlated to the Oklahoma ELA and Math Framework Project and the Oklahoma Academic State Standards for the purpose of providing instruction that will increase academic achievement.
  • Assists teachers in using flexible grouping for the purpose of addressing academic deficiencies appropriately and providing opportunities to accelerate academic performance.
  • Provide district-wide and small-group professional development to educators regarding evidence-based instructional practices to improve student achievement.
  • Participate in curriculum development formative and summative assessment development data analysis and ongoing research and practice related to student achievement.
  • Continues to improve professionally in the areas of ELA and Mathematics instruction and research-based best practices.


EDUCATIONAL/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of five years of successful classroom teaching experience.
  • Previous math instruction experience preferred
  • Valid Oklahoma teacher certification required
  • Bachelors degree required; Masters degree preferred

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Generally the job requires 60% standing 20% walking and 20% sitting.
  • Must maintain a valid drivers license; must have reliable transportation and the ability to drive to multiple work locations within the school district.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds.
  • May experience constant interruptions inflexible deadlines and changes to normal routines.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • 184 day contract
  • Salary Range based on classroom teacher experience

REPORTS TO: Lakeview Intermediate Administration

STATUS: Certified
