Job Description
This respected Independent All-Girls School in Enfield is recruiting an inspiring English Teacher for a permanent full-time role commencing in January 2026. This is a central role requiring a passionate expert to teach English Language and Literature up to A-Level and act as a crucial force in fostering an exceptional literary culture within the school.
The successful candidate will be expected to instil the highest levels of scholarly rigour and imaginative articulate expression in every young woman.
Responsibilities
- Design and deliver highly challenging and stimulating lessons in English Language and Literature with a substantial focus on A-Level scholarship.
- Develop students critical analyse skills advanced literary comprehension and sophisticated essay writing ability specifically tailored to empower young women.
- Evaluate and track student progress meticulously providing bespoke actionable written and verbal feedback that drives mastery.
- Co-ordinate and contribute passionately to the vibrant co-curricular life of the English department running successful debating creative writing or literary societies.
- Utilise the schools extensive library and academic resources to inspire a lifelong love of literature and scholarship.
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent and a relevant degree specialism in English Literature or Language.
- Proven track record teaching English to a high level with a profound understanding of various literary traditions.
- A genuine commitment to scholarship and promoting literacy as the foundational skill for all learning.
- Exceptional communication and leadership skills vital for engaging highly academic student groups.
- Enthusiasm for working collaboratively within an intellectually driven faculty.
