Job Description
This nationally recognised high-performing Independent Co-educational School on the East Sussex coast is seeking an inspirational English Teacher for a permanent full-time position starting January 2026. This role is ideal for a teacher passionate about intellectual ambition and high achievement in literacy and literary analyse. The successful candidate will join a faculty focused on exceptional outcomes teaching highly motivated students and contributing to outstanding public examination results.
Responsibilities
- Deliver a rigorous and stimulating English Language and Literature curriculum across all key stages fostering a love of reading and sophisticated writing skills.
- Inspire students to achieve exceptional results in public examinations consistent with the schools high academic standing.
- Contribute to the schools innovative academic culture utilising modern pedagogy and creative methods to engage high-achieving pupils.
- Mentor and facilitate student participation in academic extension programmes debating and scholarly societies.
- Maintain meticulous records of student progress and provide detailed scholarly feedback that drives continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent and a relevant degree specialism in English.
- Experience teaching English up to A-Level is highly desirable (or demonstrable capability if an ECT).
- A commitment to the highest level of academic rigour and a scholarly approach to teaching.
- The ability to inspire pupils with creative engaging and challenging instruction.
