The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for the development implementation and oversight of environmental health and safety programs across all manufacturing and logistics facilities in Pan America. This role ensures compliance with local national and international regulations and champions a strong safety culture throughout the organization.
This is a strategic field-engaged leadership role that partners closely with plant managers HR and operations to reduce risk improve EHS performance and drive continuous improvement across all locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop implement and continuously improve EHS programs policies and procedures across all Pan American facilities.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable environmental safety and health regulations (e.g. OSHA EPA local laws).
- Conduct risk assessments and hazard analysis to proactively identify and mitigate risks.
- Lead incident investigations root cause analyses and implement corrective/preventative actions.
- Manage environmental compliance including air/water emissions waste disposal chemical storage and spill response.
- Conduct and/or oversee EHS training for all levels of employees and visiting contractors.
- Perform audits and inspections of all sites to ensure regulatory and company policy compliance.
- Monitor key EHS performance indicators (KPIs) and generate reports for executive leadership.
- Collaborate with HR on wellness and ergonomics initiatives to reduce injuries and promote health.
- Lead emergency response planning drills and crisis management efforts.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure EHS is embedded into operational planning and project design.
- Maintain required permits and ensure accurate timely regulatory reporting across all jurisdictions.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Environmental Science Occupational Health & Safety Industrial Engineering or a related field. Masters degree or certifications (e.g. CSP CIH CHMM) preferred.
- 7 years of progressive EHS experience in a manufacturing environment with 3 years in a multi-site or regional role.
- Strong working knowledge of Pan American environmental and safety regulations (e.g. U.S. Mexico Brazil and other jurisdictions).
- Experience with ISO 14001 and/or ISO 45001 implementation and maintenance is a plus.
- Excellent leadership communication and training facilitation skills.
- Fluency in English required; Spanish and/or Portuguese highly preferred.
- Willingness to travel (up to 50%) across the Pan American region.
