Job Summary

Job Title: Ultrasound Technician
Specialty: Diagnostic Medical Sonography
Site: VA San Diego Healthcare System
Location: 3350 La Jolla Village Dr San Diego CA 92161
Duration: 1 year contract with the possibility of 4 years extension

Shift Schedule:

Between Monday Sunday between 06:00 00:00 (midnight)
40 hours/week
May include weekends/holidays
On-call with 30-minute report time as assigned

License /Certifications:

Current and valid ARDMS or ARRT license (required)

BLS

Minimum Qualification/ Experience:

Minimum 2 years full-time recent experience (within last 3 years)
License must include 2 advanced disciplines: Abdominal (required) either OB/GYN and/or RVT
PACS experience

Responsibilities:

Independently perform a broad range of sonographic exams abdomen (tumors/cysts/abscesses/hematomas/inflammatory lesions; organ size/location) aorta (aneurysm/dissection) chest (pleural effusions) neck/carotid peripheral venous/arterial studies
OB/GYN ultrasound
Quantitative Doppler (blood flow profiles)
Appropriate use of color-flow/power Doppler
Review requisitions for exam appropriateness
Assist radiologists during invasive procedures
Manage images in PACS
Document in VistA/CPRS
Adhere to VA/JCAHO standards
Wear self-provided scrubs.
