Job Description

Job Title: Medical Billing Clerk

Location: 10th Medical Group U.S. Air Force Academy Colorado 80840

Work Schedule: Monday Friday 8- or 10-hour shifts betweenexcluding federal holidays

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or GED.

  • Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in medical billing healthcare administration or financial services.

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word Excel PowerPoint).

  • Familiarity with Electronic Health Records (EHR GENESIS) ABACUS OTCNet AMPS or other billing/accounting systems is desirable.

  • License/Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) required.

  • Other Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

  • Strong attention to detail accuracy and analytical skills.

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare process and review medical billing statements in accordance with MTF and DHA policies.

  • Maintain access to medical financial management systems (e.g. ABACUS EHR GENESIS OTCNet AMPS CIR) to ensure accurate billing operations.

  • Manage Other Health Insurance (OHI) collections by processing DD Form 2569 and uploading documentation into systems for TRICARE and third-party reimbursement.

  • Track reconcile and correct billing errors working with patients providers and administrative staff as necessary.

  • Process refunds and third-party collections deposits ensuring compliance with financial regulations.

  • Support the Uniform Business Office (UBO) by conducting audits reconciliations and compliance checks.

  • Assist leadership with reporting financial analysis and program improvement initiatives related to billing and collections.

  • Provide customer service to patients and staff regarding billing inquiries insurance forms and financial procedures.

  • Maintain accurate and confidential financial records in compliance with DoD DHA and HIPAA regulations.

  • Participate in continuous process improvement (CPI) initiatives to optimize billing accuracy and timeliness.
