Job Description
Founded in 1953 Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC) located in scenic Upstate NY is a multi-campus College with locations in Troy and Malta New York. HVCC offers more than 80 degree and certificate programs in three schools: Business and Liberal Arts; Health Sciences; and Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM). Hudson Valley is one of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York (SUNY) system and serves nearly 9000 students each year. Qualifications for Employment
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in English or related field; threeyears related teaching experience in a field that
demonstrates the ability to teach ESOL.
Preferred:
Bachelors Degree in TESOL Linguistics Bilingual Education preferred.
The preferred applicant will also have instructional experience preferably with an ethnically diverse urban population; ability to work with individuals in an enthusiastic and encouraging way; excellent oral and written communications skills.
Nature and Scope of Duties
The ESOL Adjunct Instructor reports to the Associate Coordinator of Instructional Services and performs the following duties:
Conducts classes in academic areas including but not limited to ESOL I & II & III Reading Preparation and Academic Preparation;
Prepares all necessary reports;
Meets with Associate Coordinator of Instructional Services or Counselor when necessary;
Performs related duties as described in Faculty Handbook/Alliance Agreement.
The Adjunct Instructors hourly rate is $44.00.
