Position Type: Term to December 2026

Location: Fredericton

Salary Range: $2454.00 to $3458.00 biweekly. Successful candidates may be eligible for a higher maximum step up to $3776.00 biweekly based on their level of post-secondary education.

What youll do

Responsibilities

You will be collaborating with and reporting to the Academic Chair Arts and Community in the School of Arts Community and Protective Services as a member of the faculty team. You will be responsible for ensuring planning and preparing instructional materials and resources; establishing and managing a positive learning environment; instructing and evaluating students; building and sustaining professional relationships with students colleagues community partners and stakeholders; and other related duties.

Specific instructional areas and courses within the program may include but are not limited to:

  • Introduction to Psychology
  • Introduction to Sociology
  • Lifespan Development
  • Mental Health Foundations
  • Dimensions of Wellness
  • Professional Practice and Ethics
  • Research Methods in Social Sciences
  • Other courses related to the field of social sciences

The successful incumbent will be willing and able to integrate technology and active student learning techniques into teaching practices. You will also plan evaluate and monitor student practicum placements.

What youll need

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • Two-year diploma or degree in social sciences or related discipline.
  • Recent and related work experience in the field of social sciences.
  • Preference may be given to candidates who have experience teaching in a post- secondary environment in a blended delivery format.
  • Preference may be given to candidates who have a minimum of five (5) years of recent and related experience in the field of social sciences.
  • Preference may be given to those registered with the New Brunswick Association of Social Workers.
  • Successful candidates will be required to provide a criminal background check.
  • Preference may be given to candidates with knowledge of Indigenous cultures communities customs practices and communication styles.
  • Highly flexible with excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to navigate and build relationships effectively throughout the organization.
  • Working Knowledge of proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills analytical ability and innovative thinking.
  • Self-motivated service and results oriented.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.

Other combinations of education and experience may be considered as equivalent. Subject to competition response the minimum qualifications may be raised.
