Job Summary
We are hiring on behalf of our client a global innovator in fitness and wellness technology. Their mission is to empower people to live fit strong long and happy lives by delivering integrated experiences to millions of members anytime anywhere.
They are now looking for a Staff Android Engineer to join their Android App team which supports applications with over 1M downloads across Google Play and Amazon storefronts.
As a Staff Android Engineer you will take ownership of designing and scaling new features across mobile TV and WearOS platforms. Youll drive team standards for performance observability and modern Android best practices while mentoring engineers and guiding technical direction. Youll collaborate with cross-functional teams and work with the broader Android community within the organization contributing to architectural initiatives like the adoption of Jetpack Compose across all Android surfaces.

Responsibilities:
Architecture & Development
- Architect develop and deploy new features with full end-to-end ownership.
- Drive cross-team adoption of Jetpack Compose across mobile TV and WearOS apps.
- Partner with external technology partners for early access initiatives and explorations.
Engineering Excellence
- Define and enforce standards around performance observability and modern Android practices.
- Design processes and tools to improve mobile development workflows.
- Ensure applications are optimized for memory performance and stability.
Leadership & Mentorship
- Mentor and coach Android engineers supporting their growth and technical development.
- Provide technical leadership across multiple projects and platforms.
- Translate complex product and design requirements into scalable implementations.
Collaboration
- Work closely with Product Designers Product Managers Backend Engineers and Data Engineers to deliver cohesive user experiences.
- Engage with a large community of Android developers across the organizations ecosystem.
Requirements:
Technical Expertise
- 8 years of Android development experience.
- Mastery of Kotlin and Java (experience with Coroutines a plus).
- Strong knowledge of MVVM MVI or other modern app architectures.
- Experience with Gradle and GitHub Actions for build/release pipelines.
- Expertise in performance tuning memory optimization monitoring and crash analysis.
Leadership Skills
- Proven experience leading teams and mentoring engineers.
- Strong ability to manage technical projects and drive results.
- Effective communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences.
