We have an exciting opportunity for an FPGA Design Engineer to join the Microelectronics Team within the Electrical Engineering organization. Electrical Engineering drives business success by providing a variety of critical engineering tasks across multiple Raytheon product lines and functions.

The FPGA Design Engineer is part of a key role within the Engineering organization responsible for developing the electronics for defense system products. We engage at the outset of the system development and follow our designs through deployment. Our team helps develop the requirements and bring concepts to life. Our products are deployed all over the world on the ground into the atmosphere and out into space. The FPGA Products team within the Microelectronics Department is responsible for the architecture design implementation integration and documentation of deliverable firmware and FPGA embedded processing.

The position is an on-site role for the McKinney TX location.

What You Will Do

  • Develop FPGA designs for all major vendors and device families including: AMD Xilinx Intel Altera and Microchip
  • Implement designs using VHDL for high-speed serial interfaces RF interfaces DSP algorithms controls data links embedded processing and processor interfaces
  • Work with circuit card designers and systems engineers to develop requirements architect new designs collaboratively model algorithms partition and perform code development simulation and implementation
  • Verify designs against requirements via simulation and other verification methods
  • Provide design support from requirements definition through integration and test including design documentation and configuration management

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or related Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) degree.
  • This position requires 12 months or less of relevant professional work experience (excluding internships).
  • Experience with digital design and VHDL or Verilog coding
  • Experience with AMD Xilinx Intel Altera or Microchip FPGAs

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Excellent written and verbal communications
  • Experience working with lab equipment such as signal generators spectrum analyzers etc.
  • Familiarity with the Linux environment
