Internship overview

The Efficacy Lab inside of the AI team pushes the boundaries of personalized education through machine learning and experimentation.

Our newly implemented AI tutor deeply integrates into our platform providing dynamic support and personalized Socratic tutoring. This internship focuses on evaluating and optimizing the efficacy of this AI tutoring system helping us understand its true educational impact and enhancing its capabilities.

What will you do as an AI Tutor Efficacy Intern

• Methodology development: Research design and develop robust quantitative (and potentially qualitative) methodologies for measuring the efficacy of the AI tutor focusing on learning outcomes user engagement and academic improvements

• Metric design: Create and validate precise metrics to operationalize AI tutor efficacy clearly and reliably

• Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues from the AI team data scientists content specialists UX designers and software engineers to implement experiments and interpret findings

• State-of-the-art research: Explore contemporary methodologies and frameworks related to AI tutoring efficacy leveraging insights from current research literature

You bring

• Background in Machine Learning (Behavioural) Data Science AI Educational Sciences Psychology or a related quantitative field.

• Strong statistical background and experience in experimental design and metric development.

• Proficiency in Python and experience with relevant data analysis libraries (e.g. pandas PyTorch TensorFlow).

• Demonstrated experience or coursework related to evaluating AI/ML models especially educational AI systems.

• Familiarity with Large Language Models (LLMs) and embedding APIs.

• A highly analytical and methodical mindset able to conduct independent research as well as collaborate effectively in a team.

• Excellent communication skills in English.
