Staff Nurse Ophthalmology Department
Full-time (37.5 hours per week) Permanent
Candidate Criteria:
Qualifications
Be registered in the General Nurse Division of the Register of Nurses kept by the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Ireland NMBI.
Experience
At least 1-2 years of experience in a clinical nursing role with a particular focus on Ophthalmology or acute care nursing.
Up to date knowledge of nursing theory and best practice at a level relevant to number of years qualified.
The Purpose of This Role:
To work according to the Code of Professional Conduct and Ethics (NMBI 2021) as amended or updated and relevant professional guidelines and take responsibility for a defined group of patients within the area Ophthalmology.
The fundamental philosophy guiding this position is to promote and preserve the Bon Secours Mission Values and Ethos.
Key Responsibilities:
Be responsible for the safe care of patients from initial consultation to pre assessment and discharge liaising with the Consultants Nursing Staff and all other health care professionals and support services.
Be responsible for the assessment planning implementation and evaluation of the ophthalmology patients utilising medical assessments and performing technical diagnostics to determine patient needs.
Communicate results of assessments treatment / care programmes and recommendations to the team and relevant others in accordance with service policy / as required.
To ensure safe comprehensive patient care to service users within the guidelines of the BSHS policies procedures and guidelines along with the relevant professional guidelines e.g. Nursing & Midwifery Board of Ireland.
Collaborate with service users family carers and other staff in treatment /care planning and in the provision of support and advice.
