Each year 140M children are born. Birth defects affect 1 in 33 births in developed countries and in 50% of cases they are not detected during prenatal examinations. Prenatal medicine is particularly complex and the scans impose heavy responsibilities on healthcare professionals. They can also be a source of stress for future parents.
Resulting from 5 years of collaboration between world-renowned experts from Necker Hospital and Ecole Polytechnique Sonio uses artificial intelligence to improve prenatal screening and diagnosis. Based on patented algorithms and a proprietary expert database Sonio aims to become the reference tool to help practitioners improve screening reduce diagnostic errors and optimize pregnant womens medical path.
Sonios mission is to improve womens and childrens health by promoting access and quality of care through technological innovation medical expertise and collective intelligence.
About the role
We have been very intentional in growing Sonio with a strong culture centred around four pillars: Impact Product People & this role youll focus on how to maximise the performance of a growing 80-person cross-border team. Youll report directly to the Director of People & Culture excom member & board observer. Main tasks will be:
Support the excom in building the team & Processes that will reach 2026 and onwards objectives (Revenue generation Customer satisfaction installation at scale)
Define & run Sonios performance framework holistically
Run the performance review cycles end-to-end
Continuously improve the incentive system & salary grid to reward performance fairly across the team
Ensure metrics used to follow performance are robust
Coach Train & Support manager to guarantee a great management experience for each employee in line with our culture of performance and care
Own the overall training plan for the company (100k budget) to ensure we have the right team & skills to address business challenges
As the first US-hire in the HR team youll focus specifically on the US ensuring we can provide a best-in-class employee experience. Also youll support some operational tasks in the US.
Youll work with all teams and have a lot of exposure to the CEO (also based in the Boston office) COO and other excom members.

About the profile
Sonio is a mission-driven company so interest in our mission is critical. Other requirements are:
Experience in strategy (start-up consulting etc.) - you can make decisions & challenge managers decisions taking into account company strategy budget people dynamics etc.
Strong understanding of the US employment market for tech start-ups
Strong cultural fit between impact performance and care
Strong empathy ability to support & challenge in a caring and supportive way
Strong interest in people topics ideally some experience with communication feedback performance or other people framework
Location: Boston this role could fit someone based in Paris with a strong knowledge of the US market
Salary: $120k - $130k 10% Bonus
