POSITION SUMMARY: The Benefits Specialist is responsible for the daily administration of the companys benefits and wellbeing programs. This role requires a deep understanding of benefits administration technical processes and the ability to think critically all while demonstrating a strong commitment to promoting a culture of health and wellbeing.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Benefits Management (25%): Manage escalated inquiries and issues related to Outfitter benefits including but not limited to health insurance retirement plans and other voluntary benefits. Collaborate with benefits vendors and internal stakeholders to resolve issues promptly and effectively.
- Must be able to communicate effectively and educate outfitters about benefits policies and procedures. Provide outstanding customer service and support outfitter life status changes.
- Ensure outfitters know and understand their benefits. Assist with benefit enrollment and answer questions that may arise such as eligibility and summary plan restrictions. Make recommendations for communications needs.
- Escalate outfitter benefit needs to the appropriate carrier as needed. Work with the carrier to resolve systems errors communication needs and to ensure the outfitter receives excellent customer service.
- Work with carriers / vendors to ensure timely and accurate unemployment claim processing benefit verification court orders bill payments etc.
- Be able to accurately describe our benefits and how they interact with or offset one another.
- Support the implementation of new programs.
- Know and understand legislative changes pertaining to benefits & wellbeing and be able to support compliance requirements as needed.
- Critical Thinking (25%) Support competitive analysis data analysis and reporting of insights upon request. Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint are essential. Must identify opportunities for process improvement and make recommendations for change.
- Workday (25%) Must be knowledgeable in Workday and able to process Workday inbox tickets run error reports correct error reports run audits and make recommendations for changes in process automation instructions etc.
- Communications (25%) Provide benefit & wellbeing resources to HRBPs Support Center and outfitters as needed and respond timely to requests.
- Provide communication and support to outfitters regarding programs such as the fitness center outplacement services discount program health center.
- Must work effectively as a team to get work done timely and effectively.
- ALL OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED
EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors degree in Human Resources Business Administration or related experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in benefits administration leave management or a related HR function.
- Strong understanding of federal and state regulations governing employee benefits.
- Experience managing sensitive employee issues with professionalism and discretion.
- Excellent communication and people skills with the ability to effectively interact with employees at all levels of the organization.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITY:
- In-depth knowledge of benefits administration practices and principles.
- Familiarity with leave management processes including FMLA and ADA requirements.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems and other relevant software applications.
- Commitment to promoting employee health wellness and inclusion.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Regularly sits and performs computer work.
- Occasionally walks and stands.
- Seldom lifts up to 50lbs
INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT:
- Performs duties within scope of general company policies procedures and objectives. Analyzes problems and performs needs assessments. Uses judgment in adapting broad guidelines to achieve desired result. Regular exercise of independent judgment within accepted practices. Makes recommendations that affect policies procedures and practices.
