Job Summary
The Field Technician will work in the field for most of their day and will be responsible for the accurate and timely collection of data from residential and commercial customer locations and assisting with the maintenance & repairs of water/ wastewater systems.
Responsibilities
- Review service orders to determine locations where meter readings need to be performed
- Read water meters and enter data in route logs
- Maintains required paperwork and logs in compliance with Federal State and local rules and regulations
- Inspect meters and connections to determine defects faults and damages
- Repairs and/or replaces broken water mains and service lines
- Communicate problems with meters or incorrect readings to the Project Manager
- Operates a company vehicle to conduct meter readings for assigned route
- Connect and disconnect utility services as directed
- Ensure that all data in the utility log book is maintained correctly and kept updated
- Assist with the maintenance & repairs of water/ wastewater systems
- Perform general landscape maintenance including mowing trimming clean-ups pruning and other typical landscape maintenance tasks
- Performs other related duties as directed

Qualifications
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid drivers license and acceptable Motor Vehicle Records are required
- 2-3 years experience in the water/ wastewater public works maintenance or servicing industry is highly preferred
- Ability and willingness to work independently
- Ability to understand water systems and concepts
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to perform sustained physical labor including heavy lifting and working above your head and below your feet
- Neat and clean in appearance courteous and friendly with the general public and willing to be a part of a team
- Must be available to work overtime and on-call as needed
