The Department of Modern Languages Literatures and Cultures at The Citadel invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Spanish with expertise in the Caribbean (literature culture and/or related fields).
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Spanish or a closely related field by the time of appointment
- Native or near-native proficiency in Spanish and English
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level
- Evidence of (or clear potential for) a strong scholarly agenda
Responsibilities:
- Teach all undergraduate levels of Spanish language literature and culture
- Offer special topics and first-year (freshman) seminars as needed
- Standard 4-4 teaching load at a public state institution
- Contribute to departmental service and student mentoring
The department serves the undergraduate day program of approximately 2000 cadets and offers a robust faculty-led summer study abroad portfolio in Spain and Latin America. The Citadel Foundation provides competitive internal grants supporting research conference travel and professional development.
