What is the Opportunity
AUE is seeking a Permitting Manager to oversee the end-to-end permitting process for large-scale telecom infrastructure builds. You will lead a team liaise with municipalities and regulatory bodies and ensure compliance across multiple jurisdictions while driving efficiency and standardization.
What Youll Do Here
Oversee the preparation submission and tracking of permit applications for FTTH coaxial and other telecom infrastructure builds.
Ensure all permits comply with municipal provincial and client standards including traffic control and environmental requirements.
Act as the primary liaison with municipalities utility owners and regulatory bodies to negotiate permitting requirements timelines and exemptions.
Build and maintain strong relationships with permitting authorities to facilitate approvals and resolve conflicts.
Collaborate with Design Construction and Project Management teams to align permitting timelines with overall project schedules.
Allocate workload monitor progress and ensure timely submission and approval of permits across multiple projects.
Lead and mentor a team of Permitting Coordinators and Specialists; provide coaching performance feedback and career development.
Develop and maintain standardized permitting processes templates and best practices.
Represent Aecon in meetings with external stakeholders to align expectations and compliance.
Monitor regulatory changes and communicate impacts to internal teams.
Provide regular status updates risk assessments and mitigation plans to senior leadership and clients.
Track key performance indicators such as approval turnaround time rejection rates and cost impacts.
What You Bring to the Team
5 years of experience in permitting or municipal approvals including at least 2 years in a leadership or managerial role.
Strong knowledge of municipal permitting processes utility coordination and applicable regulatory frameworks.
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment.
Excellent negotiation communication and relationship-building skills with internal and external stakeholders.
Experience in telecommunications or utility infrastructure projects is a strong asset.
Proficiency with MS Office and permitting tracking systems.
Post-secondary education in Civil Engineering Urban Planning or related discipline is considered an asset.
