Job Summary:

The Department of Family Medicine and Community Health and the Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation is seeking a Family Medicine physician with a Certificate of Added Qualification (CAQ) in Sports Medicine to join our team. This position includesprimary care at the UW Health Verona Family MedicineClinic andsports medicine care atUW Sports Medicine. This position will be involved in teaching residents medical students and other learners. This position will include academic scholarly work.

Duties will include clinical care in primary care and sports medicine settings management of a primary care patient panel inpatient and teaching/supervision of residents medical students and other learners service as a team physician for the Wisconsin Badgers in the Division of Sports Medicine and potential other team physician roles with preprofessional and professional sports teams in the Madison area. Teaching occurs in clinical settings on the sidelines of sports events and in formal scheduled learning sessions. Time and other departmental and campus-wide resources are available to promote scholarly work in the candidates area(s) of interest.

This position includes participating in residency faculty call schedule covering inpatient med/peds. It also includes daytime evening and weekend coverage of sports events year-round including some travel for away games and tournaments. Faculty are expected to attend required departmental meetings and perform administrative duties as necessary to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health. There may be an expectation for nursing home visits. This position may also include opportunities to work on collaborative initiatives within UW-SMPH & UW Health.

  • This position is full or part time 80%-100%.

    • This position will consist of a minimum of 60% clinical responsibilities in primary care through the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health with the remaining effort dedicated to Sports Medicine within the Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation.

  • This position requires work to be completed onsite at a designated campus work location.

  • This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every four years.

  • Applicants for this position will be considered for the following titles: Assistant Professor (CHS) Associate Professor (CHS) Professor (CHS) Clinical Assistant Professor Clinical Associate Professor Clinical Professor. The title is determined by the experience and qualifications of the finalist.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Teach medical students residents and fellows.

  • Participate in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health. An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members.
