DescriptionSolvent Process Operator I Summary
- The Solvent Process Operator I is responsible for the safe operation of various distillation equipment and the recycling of solvents. This role ensures compliance with all Operational Health & Safety and regulatory standards while maintaining efficiency and quality in daily operations.
- The available Solvent Process Operator position requires working the night shift. As we operate 24/7 shifts are 12 hours in length and Operators work every other weekend.
- The starting pay is $23 per hour plus a Night Shift Differential of $1.75 per hour bringing the rate to $24.75 per hour.
- Since this is a chemical plant we prefer candidates with hazardous materials experience particularly with chemicals. Expertise in operating distillation columns is especially valuable.
ResponsibilitiesQualifications
Education/Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- 03 years of experience in an operations or manufacturing environment preferred.
Licenses/Certifications:
- Ability to obtain licensure as required by federal state and/or local law.
- DOT Training required.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Understanding of applicable regulatory requirements (US EPA Local EPA Local DOE).
- Proficiency in basic laboratory tasks.
- Knowledge of distillation systems safeguards and procedures.
- Familiarity with treatment recipes and laboratory instructions.
- Experience in operations or industrial environments preferred.
QualificationsResponsibilities
- Operate distillation equipment including columns Luwas dryers and stationary tanks in compliance with standards and procedures.
- Perform required QA/QC activities including GC KF APHA and pH testing.
- Offload inbound tankers as needed.
- Complete daily operational checklists monitor tank levels perform routine maintenance and promptly report issues with distillation units.
- Review applicable SOPs and demonstrate understanding through quizzes and assessments.
- Complete scanning applications and submit all required paperwork for waste tracking.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
This is the way the personnel Schedule is set up in Chicago.
The night shift Operators work 12.5 hours each shift because we require the Operators handling Chemicals to shower before going home.
The operators take over the units at 18:15 and go homearound 06:45. (12.5 hrs.)
The plant runs 24/7
To prevent shutting down the plant and to be fair to everyone the schedule is done to work weeks of 3 days (37.5 hrs.. Including Showers) and weeks of 4 days (50 hrs. including Showers)
