SEND Teaching Assistant (PMLD) Ideal for Aspiring Physiotherapists Croydon

Are you a compassionate graduate with a strong understanding of Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD) Are you looking for hands-on experience that aligns with a future career in physiotherapy or healthcare

We are recruiting compassionate and committed Teaching Assistants to support students aged 1425 with complex physical medical and learning needs at a specialist SEND school in Croydon.

This is an ideal role for graduates in health psychology education or related fields who want meaningful practical experience before progressing to further training such as Physiotherapy Occupational Therapy or SEN teaching.

Youll be working closely with teachers therapists and clinical staff to support students in accessing a rich and tailored educational programme. The work includes assisting with physiotherapy routines mobility hydrotherapy and personal care as well as contributing to individualised learning plans. All students are wheelchair users and require high levels of care so manual handling is an essential part of the role.

• Full-time term-time hours: 8:30am 4:00pm Monday to Friday
• Ongoing professional training including manual handling and safeguarding
• Support from senior TAs teachers and a buddy mentor system
• Career progression into higher-level TA or therapy assistant roles

SEND TA Specification:

• Strong awareness of the needs of individuals with PMLD
• Empathy patience and a proactive attitude
• Interest in physiotherapy or a therapy-related career
• Experience in care or SEND (desirable but not essential)
