This role is responsible for coordinating across System Planning to implement key base business activities including Long Range Transmission Planning development long-term technology evolution and technical support on economic interregional and policy planning. The position ensures compliance with assigned system planning processes while driving strategic initiatives that strengthen reliability and support long-term business goals.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the development and support of Long-Range Transmission Planning tranches.
- Coordinating technology implementation efforts that enhance economic interregional and policy planning.
- Advancing enhancements to Economic Interregional & Policy Planning policies and tools in alignment with MISOs reliability framework and strategic priorities.
- Driving change initiatives in collaboration with MISO vendors and industry partners to advance System Planning.
- Providing expert technical guidance on economic and policy matters that influence strategic direction.
- Supporting System Planning staff with expertise in regional and interregional planning coordination.
- Compiling analyzing and presenting project status reports for management.
- Preparing and reviewing reports for MISO transmission owners stakeholder committees regulators (FERC NERC and state) and other stakeholders on long-term transmission planning.
- Contributing to divisional budgets and forecasts by aligning operational requirements with divisional strategy.
After one year in this role success is demonstrated by the ability to effectively represent key planning initiatives both technically and strategically foster broad collaboration across planning teams and provide strong support in business framing to drive technology improvements.
OurPrincipal Advisor Economic Interregional & Policy Planning requires:
- Bachelors degree in Engineering Finance Business Management or related field
- At least ten (10) years of relevant work experience
While not required it would be advantageous to possess:
- Masters Degree
- Previous project management experience
Appropriate level will be determined based upon experience and knowledge.

The base salary compensation range being offered for this role is $178000-$200000 USDannually. Base salary range for this position is included in accordance with requirements of various state/local pay transparency legislation. Please note that salaries may vary for different individuals in the same role based on several factors including but not limited to location of the role individual competencies education/professional certifications and qualifications/experience.
