As Food Service Manager II you will lead daily food service operations at a DJS Facility ensuring every meal is safe nutritious and appealing. In this role you will:
Lead and coordinate daily food production and meal service ensuring seamless integration with facility operations and making every meal a meaningful part of youth care.
Champion kitchen safety and sanitation maintaining compliance with HACCP procedures state health regulations and DJS standards to protect both youth and staff.
Manage food procurement and inventory with integrity and precision ensuring that resources are used efficiently and responsibly. Inspire mentor and empower food service staff through scheduling training performance evaluations and support cultivating a motivated and collaborative team.
Oversee and maintain program documentation and reports to track performance ensure compliance and celebrate successes in food service delivery.
Create and implement innovative and special menus including Youth Choice Wellness holiday meals and superintendent-requested options making mealtimes engaging and enjoyable.
Engage in professional development staff meetings and certification programs to continuously enhance your leadership and the overall excellence of the food service program.
Carry out other duties as needed to ensure smooth reliable and high-quality food service operations that positively impact youth every day.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Experience:Six years of experience supervising workers and activities in an institutional commercial or industrial food service operation.
Notes:
1. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university and two years of experience supervising workers and activities in an institutional commercial or industrial food service operation for the required experience.
may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Food Services Officers or Culinary Specialist classifications or Food Services Manager and Services Officer specialty codes in the Food Service Management field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Thepreferred candidate for this position may possess any of the following: Experiencewith financial management or procurement systems such as FMIS or similarplatforms.
Experiencewith the Federal Child Nutrition Program (CNP) or comparable food serviceprograms.
Experienceimplementing or maintaining food safety procedures including HACCP orequivalent standards
Possessionof a certification degree or coursework in Nutrition Culinary Arts FoodService Management Hospitality Management or a related field (e.g. ServSafeCertified Dietary Manager Certified Food Protection Professional RegisteredDietitian).
