Job Summary
We are hiring on behalf of our client a global innovator in fitness and wellness technology. Their mission is to empower people to live fit strong long and happy lives by delivering integrated experiences to millions of members anytime anywhere.
As they continue to expand their global presence we are looking for an experienced Director of Engineering (Site Lead) to establish and scale a major engineering hub in Poland. This role is ideal for a visionary leader who excels at building teams driving strategy and delivering world-class software products at scale.
In this senior leadership position you will build and grow a cross-functional engineering organisation. Acting as the bridge between local operations and global headquarters youll manage the delivery centre align engineering and business strategy and ensure the successful execution of product development across multiple platformsincluding e-commerce mobile TV applications and backend APIs. Youll own end-to-end delivery across the full software development lifecycle mentor leaders and engineers oversee budget and operations and represent the company in Poland as its local software leader.

Responsibilities:
Organizational Leadership & Strategy
- Establish and scale a 100 person engineering center in Poland.
- Manage budgets office operations brand awareness and recruitment events.
- Partner with HQ to align business and engineering strategies.
- Act as the public face of the delivery center engaging with partners investors and external stakeholders.
Product & Technology Leadership
- Own end-to-end delivery across the full SDLC (roadmap planning design architecture development QA deployment observability).
- Lead the development of e-commerce mobile TV and backend platforms serving millions of global users.
- Drive standards in performance security and modern architecture.
- Champion innovation including the adoption of AI-driven tools to enhance efficiency.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Product Design Marketing Finance Supply Chain Security and other global teams to deliver business value.
- Ensure compliance with local and international regulations (finance tax security SOX).
People Leadership
- Hire mentor and grow senior engineering leaders and managers.
- Foster a strong inclusive engineering culture in Poland.
- Inspire and coach teams to deliver high-impact results at scale.
Requirements:
Leadership Experience
- 10 years in senior leadership roles within technology organisations ideally in Shared Services Centres (SSC).
- Proven success scaling cross-functional engineering teams (100 people).
- Track record in coaching and developing senior leaders.
Technical Expertise
- Experience with cloud computing (AWS preferred) and modern application architectures (SOA Microservices MACH).
- Proficiency in Kotlin Java Python Go or JavaScript.
- Strong knowledge of observability tools (Datadog Splunk New Relic).
- Familiarity with compliance and regulatory frameworks (SOX experience strongly preferred).
Skills & Mindset
- Strategic thinker with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience leveraging AI tools to improve operational efficiency.
- Fluent English; willingness to travel up to 20%.
