The BIOLOGY DEPARTMENT OF EMORY UNIVERSITY in Atlanta GA ( is a broadly based biology department within Emorys College of Arts and Sciences. We seek candidates for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the area of neuroscience. The successful candidate will use experimental approaches to examine any aspect of neural function including molecular cellular systems or developmental neuroscience and will ideally integrate computational approaches into their research as well. We encourage outstanding candidates to apply even if their most recent findings are still in the form of preprints and we hope to recruit a colleague who will complement areas of existing research strengths in the department. Successful applicants will have a PhD post-doctoral research experience a record of productivity and a commitment to evidence-based undergraduate teaching and mentoring. Competitive nine-month salary will be determined based on the quality of application materials and the current salary distribution within the biology department.

Finally the metro Atlanta area provides opportunities for science outreach and education beyond the university. The successful applicant will train and mentor PhD or MD/PhD students through the Graduate Division of Biological and Biomedical Sciences ( and/or the Biomedical Engineering Graduate Program ( The applicant will also contribute to the departments undergraduate teaching mission and create research opportunities for undergraduate students. 1) A cover letter summarizing the candidates goals for research teaching and mentorship
2) A CV
3) A description of prior research and plan for developing an independent externally funded research
program
4) A statement of experience and interests in teaching including how the candidate will contribute to
the Biology departments undergraduate teaching program
5) A statement of experience and interests in mentorship service and/or community outreach.
