Job Summary
This role encompasses providing holistic wraparound services for victims of interpersonal violence in their goal of achieving safety and healing in whatever capacity that may be. Advocates will work in all aspects of victim support on an ongoing basis while collaborating with partner agencies and other SafeNest departments to ensure successful delivery of comprehensive services.
This position interacts with broader systems and community advocacy to engage in meaningful safety-based services for victims and accountability-based services for abusive partners. This position promotes SafeNests mission of healing through hope and social change by building comprehensive support networks with partner agencies and other community stakeholders.
Primary Responsibilities
- Works within SafeNests One Safe Place campus (and other locations as needed) to provide supportive services for all clients seeking services.
- Advocates for victims of interpersonal violence and their children through supportive services such as ongoing case management civil and criminal court support and judicial navigation filing Temporary Orders of Protection dynamic safety planning crisis intervention scheduling counseling coordinating entry into emergency shelter follow-up calls and assessing all other needs and connecting clients to providers or programs that meet those needs.
- Provide an atmosphere of safety peace and hope for all clients through trauma-informed empowerment-based interactions such as active listening emotional validation and encouragement.
- Participates in networking opportunities and builds strong relationships with partner agencies and community members in order to further the understanding of interpersonal violence dynamics and its impact on victims families and abusive parties.
- Supervises trains and mentors undergraduate interns throughout the length of their academic program.
- Maintains accurate client records utilizing designated client databases while conducting timely data collection and reporting.
- Provides back-up Front Desk administrative services as needed.

Required Skills and Qualifications
- Must successfully complete a minimum of 20 hours of initial in-house basic advocacy training.
- Must pass a drug test and background check.
- Excellent and effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledgeable in and confident working under confidentiality requirements and familiar with ethics in client interactions.
- Understanding of culturally-relevant service provision and informed about empowerment economic and social justice issues and harm-reduction practices.
- Must have access to a reliable vehicle that is insured and a valid drivers license.
- Regular attendance during regularly-scheduled business hours with some occasional flexibility in work hours as needed to accomplish department goals and objectives.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications
- Licensure or 2- or 4-year degree in a related field such as Social Work Counseling Law Criminal Justice etc. (open to other academic backgrounds on a case-by-case basis) or equivalent.
- Fluency in Spanish Tagalog Mandarin Arabic Farsi/Persian or any other commonly spoken language in the Las Vegas area.
- Experience working in a program or nonprofit that serves victims of domestic violence sexual assault human trafficking child abuse and/or other forms of interpersonal violence.
- Active First Aid CPR and/or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
