Landing Gear Technologies (LGT) is an FAA-Certified Repair Station specializing in the repair and overhaul of aircraft landing gears and components. Plating Technicians report to the Lead Plater Technician and are responsible for assuring all assigned tasks are executed correctly and in accordance with FAR and current manufacturers instructions. Plating Technicians are also responsible for ascertaining the shop equipment and tooling used during the assigned tasks making sure they are in serviceable working condition and maintain workstations in a clean and orderly manner. They are to ensure the technical data is correct and current pertaining to the task being performed and that required work records are properly executed.
Plating Technicians may not delegate their duties and responsibilities to any other person.
They are to perform mechanical and/or machining repair operations per instructions provided through Shop Travelers / Routers and Repair Manuals authorized for use by the Quality Assurance/Technical Publications Manager.
Plating assignments at LGT are supported with Training Records and are classified as Disassembly; Assembly; Polish; Paint; Machining; Bushing & Hone; and Bushing Installation. Other classifications may be added as the company organizations expand.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform maintenance and alteration tasks including machining operations on civil aviation articles in accordance with the current technical data provided in the manufacturers Instructions for Continued Airworthiness Services Bulletins Service Letters Airworthiness Directives government and industry standard practices and other data acceptable to or approved by the FAA / EASA.
Ensure familiarity with all tools and equipment including inspection aids used within the assigned area of responsibility.
Properly record the work performed on the appropriate maintenance record.
Train to identify and match parts by part number and serial number.
Train to operate crane system.
Operate degreaser and understand requirements for cleaning components.
Do regular maintenance on degreaser equipment as per equipment manual.
Prepare parts by masking or stop-off for plating and sandblasting.
Sandblast parts for plating or other required operations.
Perform non-electrolytic processes like Alodine multiple strip types and passivation of small parts.
Trained to transfer chemicals using different types of pumps.
Use and transport chemical products as per Environmental and Safety regulations guidance.
Maintain the working area clean and organized.
Assist in tanks and accessories cleaning.
Qualifications:
Good written and oral communication skills.
Ability to perform job functions with little or no supervision.
Experience operating equipment and performing maintenance/machining operations per technical drawings and Manufacturers Repair/Overhaul instructions.
Prior experience in working in an FAA / EASA Certificated Repair Station Operation.
