Job Description

Health and Social Care Teacher - Croydon South London

We are actively seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Health and Social Care Teacher to join a supportive secondary school located in the diverse borough of Croydon. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate educator to inspire students pursuing careers in healthcare and social work.

The Role

The school is looking for a qualified Health and Social Care Teacher with experience teaching the subject at Key Stage 4 (GCSE/Vocational) and Key Stage 5 (A-Level/BTEC). The ideal candidate will be adept at linking theoretical knowledge to professional practice and industry standards. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering high-quality engaging lessons in Health and Social Care to students studying vocational and academic routes.
  • Developing and implementing a rigorous curriculum that covers key topics such as human development communication health promotion and professional care values.
  • Guiding students through practical skills coursework and examination preparation ensuring excellent attainment.
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of the sector and providing students with relevant career advice and industry insights.
  • Collaborating with the wider faculty to organize potential work experience or guest speaker opportunities for students.

Candidate Requirements

To be considered for this rewarding position you should have:

  • A degree in Health and Social Care Nursing Social Work or a closely related field.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a PGCE.
  • Proven experience teaching Health and Social Care at the secondary level with expertise in preparing students for BTEC/Cambridge National/Technical qualifications at Key Stage 4 and 5.
  • A strong understanding of the sectors ethical legal and professional frameworks.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to foster empathy and professional conduct in students.

Salary & Application

The salary for this position is competitive and will be paid to the MPS/UPS scale (Outer London pay scale) commensurate with your experience and qualifications.
