Location: Houston TX 77076 (by I-45 N and W Little York Rd)
Schedule: Monday Friday and rotating Saturdays ( 40 Hours a week only)
Job description:

Job Duties:
The veterinary assistant participates in animal husbandry and clinical care of animals in the shelter or clinic educates pet owners on pet health and ensures a safe and efficient medical environment. Perform daily animal husbandry of pets who are under medical care while utilizing appropriate PPE; Clean organize and stock medical work areas and surgical equipment Document treatments and diagnoses in shelter software; Administer and dispense medications according to treatment plan; Obtain and perform diagnostics testing; Support veterinary team with restraint radiography treatments and preventative care; Provide client education on responsible pet ownership and medical care.
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED 4 months in an animal care or shelter environment proficient in Microsoft Office and data entry Effective verbal/written communication skills. Position is located in a fast-paced animal shelter setting with exposure to animal allergens/smells loud noises and temperature changes. Position requires long period of standing sitting bending lifting and stooping. Position will be required to lift and restrain animals or other objects up to 50 pounds. Position requires wearing color matching scrub uniforms. closed toe/slip proof shoes and the use of computer/veterinary medical equipment.
