Compensation plans are based on a multi-step progression system. The pay range reflects the entry level and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade.

Nature of Work

The fundamental reason this position exists isto manage the daily operations of the Countys repair shop. The major work responsibilities of thisclassification include: supervising two or more full-time employees; monitoringthe daily tasks of mechanics and auto servicers; performing inspections anddiagnostic testing; providing technicalassistance in troubleshooting and repairing electrical systems; providing technical assistance introubleshooting and repairing hydraulic systems; performing complex ordifficult repair work; monitoring routine and preventive maintenance tasks;performing inventory and purchasing duties; and performing administrativefunctions. Incumbents receive direct supervision from the FleetMaintenance Superintendent.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or G.E.D. Five years of experience in the repair andmaintenance of construction equipment to include at least two years repairexperience at the masters level and two years of supervisory experience in therepair and maintenance of construction equipment.

NOTE: Qualifying education training and experience that provide the requisiteknowledge skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.

Special Requirements

Must have upon entry a valid drivers licenseand an insurable driving record as needed to operate County vehicles. Must have or obtain with six months ofemployment a valid Alabama commercial drivers license (CDL) Class A withhazardous material and tanker endorsements as needed to operate the asphaltdistributor and fuel truck.
