Juvenile Probation/Social Services Officer/Juvenile Correction Counselor - Native American Services Coordinator

Woodburn - MacLaren Youth Correctional Facility (OIIR)

The Oregon Youth Authority (OYA) is seeking a Native American Services Coordinator to join our Office of Inclusion and Intercultural Relations (OIIR). This limited duration one-year position plays a vital role in coordinating and delivering culturally responsive services to youth particularly Native American youth and others from diverse or marginalized backgrounds both in close custody facilities and in the community.

What You Will Be Doing:

As a Native American Services Coordinator you will:

  • Provide culturally responsive services to OYA youth and families including cultural education awareness activities and support groups.

  • Advocate for youth and families by participating in case reviews multidisciplinary teams (MDTs) and ensuring that youth have equitable access to services and resources.

  • Plan coordinate and facilitate multicultural and culturally specific events celebrations and group activities for OYA youth statewide.

  • Collaborate with community partners tribal nations and organizations to connect youth with mentoring educational opportunities cultural programs and other supportive services.

  • Deliver staff training and consultation to help OYA employees recognize refer and respond to the unique needs of underrepresented youth while integrating diversity equity and inclusion into everyday practice.

  • Document youth engagement and service outcomes through attendance records cultural service questionnaires and incident reports while ensuring custody and security remain top priorities.

To Qualify For This Position:

A bachelors degree in a behavioral science or a related field with major courses in behavioral science may substitute three (3) years of professional support/counseling services.

NOTE: Professional support/counseling services experience must include providing interventions to clients on a one-to-one or group basis with responsibility for contributing to treatment or case plans facilitating and documenting groups and other support interventions in case notes attendance tracking or case plan documents.
