You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailThe Harris County Community Supervision and Corrections Department (CSCD) is one of the largest probation departments in the United States supervising more than 70000 individuals and employing over 600 staff members across 6 locations. We provide a wide range of services including community supervision outpatient counseling cognitive-behavioral programming and residential treatment designed to strengthen our clients abilities and support their long-term success. With a focus on utilizing evidence-based practices we aim to improve outcomes and reduce recidivism for all clients under supervision.
Basic Function:
Responsible for assisting clients in finding relevant training courses and other development opportunities that will enhance their skills and increase their employability. The Community Resources Specialist assesses the clients needs provides job search assistance engages with second-hand employers and frequent contact with the client and service providers. This position plays a crucial role in bridging the gap between job seekers second chance employers as well as linking clients to healthcare education and vocational training.
Essential Functions:
Serve as primary outreach liaison with essential employers educational and vocational partners and social services agencies.
Provide individual guidance regarding online digital job searching and employment application.
Follow up monitor and engage with participants to promote success.
Responsible for maintaining each clients goals and progress in the CSS data system.
Prepares and maintains comprehensive accurate and timely case documentation in CSS database.
Collaborate with other service providers in the delivery of participant services ensuring fidelity and competence.
Networks with new and established community resources to increase knowledge of services.
Ensures motivational engagement techniques are utilized to support encourage retain and support participants in services.
Conduct labor market research in areas of employment industries and specific occupations that are high in demand.
Provide employment guidance counseling for clients by identifying work and career goals.
Develops and maintains professional relationships with but not limited to internal and external Stakeholders
Works overtime as required.
Nonessential Functions:
Contribute and help create a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a cooperative and amicable manner with managers coworkers subordinates and members of the public.
Establishes positive working relationships with agencies having differing philosophies.
Occasional travel throughout the greater Houston area conducting home and field visits.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education:
A bachelors degree in criminal justice or a related behavioral science field (ex. psychology sociology social work). In lieu of degree 3 years of work experience in the criminal justice field as stated below.
Experience:
In lieu of degree 3 years of work experience in the criminal justice field including either of the following:
3 years of work experience coordinating reintegration services to justice involved individuals
OR
3 years experience with adult justice involved populations with a specific concentration of those 17-25 years of age.
Knowledge/Skills:
Must be willing to work a flexible schedule that may require a non-traditional work schedule.
Effective written and oral communication skills
Knowledge of community resources in Harris County for justice involved adults/young adults and how to access them.
Ability to work with diverse populations and complex situations involving community agencies schools clients and staff.
Must be self-disciplined and dependable working independently with little or no supervision.
Must have the ability to work with the justice involved population specifically young adults.
Maintains strict confidentiality.
Handles stressful situations with tact and diplomacy.
Recognizes and respect appropriate personal boundaries.
Excellent time management skills and detailed-oriented
Licensure:
Must have a valid Texas Class C Automobile Operators License and must be insured under the Departments automobile insurance program.

Monthly Salary:
$4572.24 ($26.38 Hourly) - $5302.44 ($30.59 Hourly) (Commensurate with experience)
Based on 26 pay periods.
40 Hours Weekly.

While performing the duties of this job the employee regularly works in an office setting.
Physical Demands:

The employee is frequently required to communicate with co-workers and clients and must be able to communicate and receive accurate information.
The employee is regularly required to visually observe clients during individual and/or group settings for assessment purposes.
The employee is occasionally required to travel to court correctional facilities or other HCCSCD or Harris County locations.
Organizational Relationships:
Report to the Community Resources Program Coordinator.
Employment is contingent upon passing a background check and drug screen.
