IRVING INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT

LEARNING RESOURCES AUTOMATION CLERK

JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Learning Resources Automation Clerk

WAGE/HOUR STATUS: Non-exempt

FUNDING SOURCE: Local

REPORTS TO: Director of Learning Resources and Digital Learning

PAY GRADE: Paraprofessional 050 (230 days)

DEPARTMENT: Learning Services

DATE REVISED: June 2020

A Letter of Assurance will be issued for this position.

PRIMARY PURPOSE: Assists the director in managing accessibility and technical support for the district-wide library automation system badging system and online subscription database and digital resources

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Education/Certification:

  • High School Diploma or GED

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently
  • Proficient skills in MS Word MS Excel MS PPT
  • Proficiency in library automation program TLC
  • Proficiency in PBM badging system
  • Effective organizational skills
  • Ability to sustain attention to detail
  • Ability to effectively convey technical information to users with a wide spectrum of computer knowledge and experience.

Minimum Experience:

High school degree and relevant experience in library automation.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  1. Operation and maintenance of online library catalog and integrated library system

  1. Operation and maintenance of district-wide badging system PBM

  1. Create training documents and update procedures for automation system and badging system

  1. Responsible for online resources and database access

  1. Communicates with vendors about issues IP authentication access

  1. Assists and troubleshoots software and automation tasks

  1. Assists director with district-wide training of automation and badging system creating in-house documentation as needed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSBILITIES:

None

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Must maintain emotional control and exercise reasoning and problem solving skills while under stress. Must demonstrate ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written). Should be able to interpret procedures and analyze data for decision-making. Frequent in-district and occasional in-state or national travel. Occasional prolonged and irregular hours.

Safety: Contribute to the prevention of accidents and injuries by observing safety rules and District policy practicing the principles and skills taught in safety training wearing personal protective equipment as required reporting injuries and incidences immediately to supervisor and being proactive in the ongoing efforts to improve and maintain workplace safety.
