Qualifications/Description:
- Must meet district Teacher Assistant (TA) requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent;
- Highly Qualified status as required by No Child Left Behind and the Individuals with Disabilities ActAssociates Degree or have scored at least a 4 in math or reading and a 3 or better in writing on the WorkKeys test.
- Ability to be responsible for all student self-care;
- Ability to physically attend to student needs including personal care diapering augmentative communication and assistive technology devices;
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
- Ability and willingness to perform recess monitoring bus unloading and lunchroom supervision as necessary;
- Ability to be flexible with varying student needs and schedule changes;
- Effective communication skills with a variety of staff members;
- Ability to work with children in a caring nurturing manner;
- Demonstrates flexibility teamwork and organization;
- Collaborate with teacher to implement differentiated instruction/ASD strategies and supports necessary for meaningful engagement in the school setting
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality;
- Hard working and a team player;
- Experience working with students with autism is preferred;
- Experience with behavior data collection and modification is preferred;
- American Sign Language (ASL) skills are preferred;
- Basic computer skills preferred;
- Ukeru and/or CPI training is preferred.
