MEDICAL BILLING AND COLLECTIONS SPECIALIST

We are looking for an outstanding Medical Billing and Collections Specialist. This position is responsible for the billing and collection of resident fees.

Your Contribution:
Provide the highest quality services for veterans
Participate in facility meetings training sessions and the implementation of the Arizona Management System (AMS) to achieve continuous improvement and efficiency
Use and develop your potential within a supportive team environment

Job Duties:
  • Submit initial billings to payer sources and follows up as needed
  • Prepare correspondence and supporting documentation for appeals
  • Track claims on an ongoing basis
  • Input ancillaries/charges payments adjustments daily census and resident file maintenance into a computerized accounts receivable system
  • Correct electronic and paper billing errors in a timely manner
  • Verifies insurance coverage through correspondence telephone and computer
  • Remain current with coding and billing updates
  • Process billing reports and maintain billing logs as required by Medicare for annual cost reports
  • Oversee Resident Trust Fund to include processing deposits and withdrawals and assist residents and/or family members/responsible parties who wish to deposit funds to residents account
  • Prepare monthly statements for all private pay accounts and is responsible for collection efforts
  • Conducts phone and in person inquiries regarding trust and statement balances
  • Prepare correspondence such as collection letters and 30-day notices
  • Participate in posting end of month ancillaries
  • Be involved in AMS processes such as Huddle Boards Problem Solving Job Breakdown sheets Success Tracking and Standardized Work

  • Procedures for billing insurance companies Medicare Medicaid Veterans Administration and private pay
  • Accounting principles related to accounts receivable
  • Principles and practices of the collection process

Pre-Employment Requirements:
  • Current Negative TB skin test (Mantoux skin test) within the last twelve months or a written statement from a physician physicians assistant or a registered nurse practitioner indicating freedom from Tuberculosis if in the past has had a positive skin test or Tuberculosis
  • Must be able to obtain and retain a fingerprint clearance card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety
  • This position requires the ability to drive on State business. Requires possession of and ability to retain a current valid state-issued drivers license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on State business are subject to drivers license record checks must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any required driver training (see . R.11).
