Position Summary The Pharmacist is responsible for providing high-quality pharmaceutical care ensuring the safe and effective use of medications and delivering drug-related information to patients and healthcare professionals. This role requires strong clinical judgment attention to detail and the ability to work independently in a collaborative healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities Clinical Review & Patient Care -
Review prescriptions for accuracy therapeutic appropriateness legal compliance potential contraindications drug interactions allergies lab abnormalities and adverse drug reactions.

Resolve any prescription-related concerns in consultation with the prescriber prior to dispensing.

Provide thorough medication counseling to patients including indication name strength dosing instructions expected outcomes and side effects.

Perform chart reviews for prescription refills and medication therapy management.

Write provider recommendations and request prescription refills on behalf of patients.

Provide drug therapy consultations and educational support to staff.
Dispensing & Verification -
Enter prescriptions into pharmacy software accurately and efficiently.

Verify filled prescription orders in a timely manner ensuring accuracy and documentation compliance.

Maintain appropriate records and documentation per regulatory requirements.

Organize and prioritize daily tasks to ensure timely service delivery.
Collaboration & Communication -
Communicate effectively with patients healthcare providers and team members to resolve medication-related issues and optimize care.

Participate in pharmacy-run clinics and provide disease prevention education related to medications.

Serve as a clinical resource and educator to pharmacy technicians and students.
Administrative & Supervisory Duties -
Direct daily tasks of pharmacy technicians and support personnel; verify their work.

Participate in department-level clinical and administrative activities including quality improvement initiatives.
-
Maintain drug inventory select appropriate formulary drugs and ensure medication availability and storage.

Attend departmental meetings and represent the pharmacy on organizational committees.

Perform additional departmental duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Education Licensure & Certification Requirements -
Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) from an accredited institution.

Unrestricted Pharmacist License in any U.S. state.

State of Alaska Pharmacist License required (must be active prior to start date).

Basic Life Support (BLS) American Heart Association (must be obtained within 1 year of hire).

Preferred: Completion of an ASHP-accredited pharmacy residency program.

Required SEARHC Certifications:
Knowledge Skills and Abilities Knowledge of: -
Pharmacological therapies and their clinical applications across all age groups.

State and federal laws governing pharmacy practice.

Drug interactions side effects and medication safety protocols.
Skills in: -
