ICI Colombie-Britannique is building a casual pool of energetic and enterprising associate radio producers/technicians who will play a vital role. As such on a casual basis you will be assigned mainly to preparing and presenting a radio program. You will be responsible for making music choices helping plan them switching in the control room and helping the BC team whenever any other technical expertise is needed for audio.
Working closely with the rest of the radio team as well as other platform teams will be crucial so that your content can be heard elsewhere and other content can find new listeners through us. You therefore need to have the technical skills and ability to adapt content.
Under the supervision of the operations producer and your radio programs producer you will be given considerable leeway for the programs sound design and presentation either in studio or in the field. Work is governed by CBC/Radio-Canadas Journalistic Standards and Practices and programming policies but there is latitude for initiative creativity and independent judgment. As an audio expert you will also be expected to give co-workers feedback training and support.
Key tasks:
Take care of technical preparation and switching for the assigned radio program.
Contribute to the development of the programs lineup.
Develop the programs music selection sound design and identity.
Propose program content ideas and help develop them by doing research and/or editing.
Ensure that equipment facilities program sources and personnel are available to meet the programs technical requirements.
Edit and mix programs or program segments. Ensure that program mixes including the creation of audio effects to meet program and production objectives achieve optimum aural results.
Participate in the evaluation of all aspects of the production.
As required perform the following tasks:
Produce program elements.
Plan and install the equipment needed for remote radio programs.
Help export program content to other platforms and import content from other platforms into your program.
Contribute to ICI Colombie-Britannique personnel feedback development and training related to audio quality.
Were looking for a candidate with the following:
Combination of education and experience equivalent to a community college diploma plus one (1) years experience in sound broadcasting or podcasting at the technical level
Knowledge of the Franco-Columbian community
A team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Solid organizational skills; ability to handle a variety of functions quickly and efficiently occasionally at the same time
Ability to solve problems independently and through group discussions (open to new ideas and approaches)
Availability to work flexible hours and overtime
Understanding of the structure and workflow at CBC/Radio-Canada and the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with counterparts in other centres
Bilingualism (French and English) required
