HOURS:
School Days: 5:30 am - 5:30 pm(with a 2 hour lunch break). 40 Hours per 4-day work week.
Fridays and Summer Months: Flexible
Up to 22 hours of Route Driving per week starting at $25.61 per hour (Depending on experience)
At least 18 additional shop hours per week ranging from $20.95 to $23.88 per hour(Depending on experience)
ASSISTING WITH THE FOLLOWING ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Regularly services and greases vehicles and equipment.
- Makes minor & major (as able) repairs to gasoline and diesel-powered equipment as needed.
- Keeps simple records.
- May use welding equipment.
- Follows District safety procedures in shop area.
- In conjunction with Activities Director oversees the transportation of students who participate in extracurricular activities.
- Approves bus stops in conjunction with the superintendent.
- Assists in the recruitment and screening of bus drivers and other transportation personnel in conjunction with the superintendent.
- In conjunction with superintendent supervises and evaluates employees in the Districts transportation department including bus drivers bus aides and other transportation personnel.
- Submits transportation personnel time sheets for purposes of payroll.
- Conducts periodic meetings with transportation personnel.
- Provides training to transportation personnel.
- Complies with Board policies rules regulations and directives.
- Assists in the development of specifications for purposes of purchasing transportation vehicles.
- Assists law enforcement in the investigation of all accidents as requested.
- Makes recommendations for updating and purchasing of new transportation.
- Assists in dispatching bus drivers and buses on regularly scheduled routes and on field trips.
- May assist in assigning or directly assign appropriately certified drivers both regular and substitute employees to ensure compliance with licensing restrictions.
- Serves as after-hours substitute caller; assigns substitutes according to their abilities and knowledge.
- Answers questions from school personnel and community regarding bus stops and bus arrival/departure times and department and District policies.
- May serve in a lead status to assist bus drivers in the performance of their duties.
- Processes field trip information including receipt of requests assignment of buses and drivers and contacting school personnel concerning these arrangements.
- Calculates and records drivers times to establish route schedules.
- Willserve as bus driver as needed.

DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules operating and procedures manuals.
- Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing with students parents and staff.
- Ability to handle stressful situations.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of employment and student matters.
- Knowledge of mechanics including but not limited to bus bodies tires transmissions braking systems etc. Knowledge of tools methods and materials used in diesel vehicles and equipment repair.
- Work history demonstrating dependability and reliability; good driving record (OPTIONAL) ; high school diploma or equivalent; or any combination of training and experience likely to provide the desired knowledge and abilities.
- Possession of valid Montana commercial drivers license accompanied by satisfactory medical examination report. (OPTIONAL)
- Operate school bus exercising good judgment and extreme caution. (OPTIONAL)
- Apply policies related to transportation operations.
- Understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
- Maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
- Ability to effectively manage time and responsibilities.
- Knowledge of safe driving & safe work practices.
- Ability to use standard shop tools and equipment safely.
- Perform heavy physical labor.
- Understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
