JOB SUMMARY
Plans develops and establishes policies and objectives of the Vocational Support Department in accordance with LARC directives by performing the following duties personally or through managers and team coordinators. Supports the LARC mission vision and guiding principles.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages support team and team leaders who supervise approximately 40 employees in the Vocational Department. Is responsible for the overall direction coordination and evaluation of the Vocational Department. Also directly supervises one non-supervisory employee. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing hiring and training employees; planning assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Must have a valid Connecticut drivers license. The individual must possess good communication skills and the ability to work as a team member.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Masters degree (M. A.) in Human Services Special Education Psychology Human Services or other related field or equivalent; and 3 years related experience with 2 years in supervision and extensive experience in administration person and interpersonal problem solving skills.
