JOB SUMMARY

Plans develops and establishes policies and objectives of the Vocational Support Department in accordance with LARC directives by performing the following duties personally or through managers and team coordinators. Supports the LARC mission vision and guiding principles.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Confers with the Executive Director to plan objectives to develop organizational policies to coordinate functions and operations between departments and to establish responsibilities and procedures for attaining objectives.
  • Prepares monitors and revises the budget.
  • Develops and revises policy and procedure for the vocational program.
  • Reviews activity reports and financial statements to determine progress and status in attaining objectives and revises objectives and plans in accordance with current conditions.
  • Ensures compliance with local state and federal regulations.
  • Prepares directs and coordinates grants to provide funding for new or continuing operations.
  • Supports staff in areas of operations fiscal personnel etc.
  • Develops and maintains sound personnel practices and procedures organizational lines of authority and defines areas of responsibility.
  • Develops and evaluates outcome standards for programs and services.
  • Supervises and/or oversees the recruitment and appointment of all staff and has the authority to hire and discharge as necessary subject to Executive Director approval.
  • Negotiates with agencies as a vocational liaison to ensure contract compliance.
  • Supervises and evaluates the performance of personnel in staff positions for compliance with established policies and objectives and contributions to attaining objectives.
  • Works as an active member of appropriate team(s) as necessary.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Manages support team and team leaders who supervise approximately 40 employees in the Vocational Department. Is responsible for the overall direction coordination and evaluation of the Vocational Department. Also directly supervises one non-supervisory employee. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing hiring and training employees; planning assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICIATIONS

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability required. The individual must possess good communication skills and the ability to work as a team member.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Masters degree (M. A.) in Human Services Special Education Psychology Human Services or other related field or equivalent; and 3 years related experience with 2 years in supervision and extensive experience in administration person and interpersonal problem solving skills.
