Supervised by and/or Reports to: Program Administrator
General Responsibilities: Provides in-person classroom support to students in an alternative setting
Essential Duties:

- Maintains order and discipline while managing students in the classroom environment. Works together with the teacher on behavior plans and their implementation.
- Supports and assists students in learning class material by providing students with individualized attention while students receive virtual instruction.
- Ensures students remain on task.
- Clarifies instructions and directions.
- Escorts and supervises students during transition times throughout the school day.
- Assists with distributing and collecting materials as directed by building administrator and/or classroom teacher.
- Operates and troubleshoots technology to include cameras learning platforms and learning tools; reports issues to IT and administration if unable to resolve them.
- Performs administrative and non-instructional duties such as daily attendance bus duty etc.
- Assists students with carrying out daily routine classroom procedures.
- Uses the tenants of Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports (PBIS) to ensure students are safe respectful and responsible.
- Maintains training and certifications such as CPR Handle with Care and any specific training related to the needs of the student(s).
- Assists student(s) who require modifications and accommodations to gain access to a free and appropriate public education as directed by the classroom instructor.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requisite Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Broad knowledge of the practices methods and techniques used in classroom teaching and classroom management.
- Knowledge of working with all students especially those with special needs.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to follow directions given by the classroom teacher.
- Must be comfortable with basic technology equipment and tools.
- Ability to interact effectively with students staff and parents.
- Ability to implement and monitor all safety protocols and procedures.
- Ability to monitor for student safety.
- Ability to interact professionally with students staff and parents.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Requisite Education and Experience:
- Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Must possess a minimum of 60 college credit hours; or an Associates Degree or higher; or have successfully passed the Para Pro Assessment.
- Experience in an educational setting and/or prior teaching/instructional experience.
- Prior experience with computers and technology is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see read talk hear handle or feel objects and controls. Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment such as but not limited to: a personal computer calculator copier and fax machine. Some climbing stooping kneeling crouching reaching standing walking pushing pulling lifting grasping or repetitive motions required.
